The Bible tells us that we do not live by physical food alone, but by every spoken word coming from God’s mouth. That is a strong statement! Have you ever considered that you would die if you did not receive The Lord’s words? The Bible certainly seems to think so.
"These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good." [Psa 104:27]
"But He answered and said, It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every spoken word that is proceeding out of the mouth of God." [Mt 4:4]
We are to wait upon The LORD for His meat – His spoken word. Seek it out like you will die if you do not find it! The animals will die if The LORD does not provide food, and the plants if His rain and sun do not shine. Verse 29 of the same Psalm says, “Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.” To hear the very words of God and live by them is our life; Proverbs says, “Where there is no word, the people perish…“
Ephesians 6:17 says to take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the spoken-word of God. The verb “take” is passive and more appropriately means “receive.” We are to receive God’s spoken-word.
Fervently and passionately seek out Jesus in His word so that you may have a word for this season; seek His face and receive His word(s). Hope in this mercy, this grace, because Jesus has promised us, saying, “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary…” [Isa 50:4]
Jesus has a word for you who are weary, and for those that are joyous. Jesus has a word from the Bible if you will zealously grab hold of the hem of His garment as it were and seek Him!
The spoken words that Jesus will give you through His Spirit out of His Word (the Bible), “they are spirit, and they are life.” and “the spoken word of The Lord endureth for ever.”
We also have a wonderful command and promise from Jesus that “if ye abide in Me, and My spoken words abide in you, ask what ye will, and it will come to pass.” [Jn 15:7] That is quite a promise!! Brethren, I urge you, seek out Jesus word like you will perish if you do not find it, for it is through Jesus’ spoken word that we live! And through this spoken word that we are cleansed/purified/washed.
CONCLUSION
Go to Jesus with an open mouth for His spoken word, with an open hand. He desires to speak with you. ” I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.” [Psa 81:10]
NOTE
A simple analogy explains the difference between logos and rhema. Logos is the Bible as a whole. Rhema (spoken words) are specific verses or passages The Holy Spirit provides for use in the right time. Logos is the pool, rhema is the bowl scooping some water from the pool.
