Qualities of a Godly Man, as Seen Through the Life of Jesus

In Christ, and in Christ alone, there is great victory available to us through His Spirit and provided grace. As men, we have the ability to lay hold of this grace daily, that we might find strength to lift up our cross and victoriously follow Jesus, triumphing over sin, satan, this world, the flesh, and condemnation from the law. We can, through His Spirit, live as Jesus lived, dying to ourselves and allowing Him to live through us, to produce a life victorious over our spiritual enemies and full of strength, joy, self control, peace, meekness, and all other good and godly things. Every enemy has been defeated by our Lord, and we are given, by simple and pure devotion to Jesus, through seeking to know Him, the ability to be more than conquerors in this spiritual war, and to produce the very life of Jesus, the greatest man to ever live.
The life of a man is one of death. We, as Christ showed us, live to die. We live to give up our lives; to sacrifice them as a sweet-smelling fragrance to those around us; to pour ourselves out as a drink offering; to very gladly spend and be spent for those God has given us. A man who keeps his life and consumes his energy, time, and resources upon himself, is in reality destroying his life. For the married man, the chief object of his affection and sacrificial love is his wife; for the unmarried man, it is the church. Through The Spirit of Grace we can live as Jesus lived; we can experience the strength, joy, victory, and power He had for we have the same Spirit within us. For us to obtain and live out such things, we must lose our life; we must see Christ in His Glory, we must search Him out in the scriptures so that we might be ever more conformed into His image, and ever more strengthened and energized to live as He calls us to live.
