What glories await us in heaven, O children of God,
O friends of The Most High; O servants of The King,
O sheep of The Shepherd, O you treasured ones,
more precious in His eyes than life,
than all riches,
than all pearls;
O bride of Christ! O friends of God!
O those for whom Christ shed His blood!
Bless the day when we shall see His face and worship at His feet,
sweetly favored and forever blessed,
forever secured and covered,
forever infatuated with His presence,
forever to drink of His deep and good heart,
forever to receive grace upon grace
and kindness upon kindness from His lips and heart and hands.
O! What glories await us in heaven, O beloved and dear ones of God,
O eternally loved and chosen of The Father,
O saints of light and love incarnate; what glories await us in that day,
When Christ appears and brings us home,
when we shall inherit all things alongside our Redeemer,
when we shall stand as pillars in His eternal castle,
when we shall be rescued from the second death.
O what glories await us in our Father’s home,
O you saints purchased by His precious blood;
What glories are in store for those who love the king,
who fear the Lion, who eat of The Lamb,
who bend their knee and kiss His feet,
O what glories await, you who have been sealed by His Spirit.
When upon that day we may drink freely of that crystal clear river,
And eat the precious fruit which Adam lost;
when we shall see the hands which have set us free,
and the side which we have pierced,
and the shoulders which bore our sins,
and the ears which have heard our sorrows;
and the eyes which have seen us and known us,
and the mouth which has comforted our souls in their deepest struggles;
O that glorious day which we long for,
O that wonderful city wherein righteousness dwells,
wherein our Savior dwells, and where we shall too forevermore,
ever in His presence as unmovable oaks of His own righteousness.
When we shall feel the embrace of our God-sent King,
who shall stand for our entrance and rejoice at our coming,
when we shall feel and know evermore that Christ Liveth;
when we shall finally partake of that heavenly realm so lovingly promised,
so adoringly secured,
so passionately fought for,
and which our Father is well pleased to impart.
O praise His name, you objects of His warm grace and passion,
O you friends of Christ, O you partakers of Heaven’s refuge,
O you who have drunk deeply of His sweet waters;
For what glories await us on that day,
when these bodies shall be shed, and we transformed;
what glories shall we taste of, when all hindrances to love are spent,
dashed against the rocks and made as chaff of the summer threshing floor.
O what glories, O what glories shall we behold and partake of,
when these corruptible shells are cast into the everlasting abyss,
alongside death and hell and sin and our wicked adversary,
who for Christ’s sake shall never again deceive or kill or destroy;
O What glories when Christ shall reign! When our sweet Jesus shall return!
When our chief passion and desire and love shall present Himself before His Father
and receive His kingdom!
O what glories when our King shall put His feet upon that mountain
and crush the serpent’s head once and for all;
when His fierce gaze and iron scepter shall
uproot every stronghold and every power;
O what glories, when every knee shall bow to Him
and He shall reign supreme!
O what glories are in store for you,
O precious saints,
O ones for whom the Prince of Life was cast off and cursed upon the tree,
O you for whom Christ died,
O you whom He promised with love in His eye and love in His heart, that He should return for your rescue.
What glories await in heaven, for you, O beloved of God Almighty,
who bow their knee to His precious and only Son,
who shall one day be ravished by His favor and love forevermore,
as He dances around us in joy and in welcome;
who shall one day feast at His table,
satisfied with eternal communion;
who shall one day be in awe of His splendor,
whose glory outshines the brightest star;
who shall soon find themselves complete and clothed with glory,
sitting at Jesus’ feet, thankful and restful in His work.
O and what glories await the man upon earth who hast tasted and seen;
yes, what victory and freedom is present for he who trusts Christ,
for the man who abides in His presence.
What glorious and abundant life might God shower upon him now
who has a complete heart toward him,
who trusts in His promises, and awaits His coming.
What glories await the man here and now, upon this earth,
who fly upon their savior, trusting and clinging to His hem;
What precious truths and fruits,
what peace, what comfort,
what glories are here and now
for He who clings to Christ in humble love.
Bless you, may God bless you, O favored one of God and of Christ;
O sealed one with that Spirit of love and adoption;
bless you a thousand times over from The King’s treasure house,
from His never-ending store of grace and rich mercy;
bless you and may God shine His face ever in your direction,
may His goodness and Spirit flow over you as oil,
may the new wine of His life fill you,
and may you take hold of and receive His grace,
confident in His steadfast, covenant love.
Amen.
