Walking in The Way

"Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of The LORD." [Psalms 119:1]

Blessed are those who are in the path of God’s word, who follow that way. What a wonderful statement this is! Yes, we may slip from time to time or lose the path, but what path are we seeking to walk on? What destination do we strive for? We may get lost, we may not follow exactly all the time, yes. But I ask again, what path do we walk upon? Do we straightly desire and press forward in the path of God’s word? If so, “blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of The LORD.” Blessed are those who with a heart completely set on following God, through the aid of God’s blessed Spirit, do just that. Again it is said, “Blessed is everyone that feared The LORD; that walketh in His ways.” [Psalms 128:1]

Do you walk in His ways? God be praised; is it the voice of the Shepherd you follow? God be praised. One may say, yes, but I falter often. And to that the Psalms say again, “The steps of a man are rightly ordered by The LORD: and he delighteth in His way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for The LORD upholdeth him with His hand.” [Psalms 37:23-24] And again, “when I said, my foot slippeth; Thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.” [Psalms 94:18] And in Proverbs, “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again…” [Proverbs 24:16a] By God’s great mercy and grace every misstep will be forgiven. Did you notice how proverbs says a righteous/just man will fall? Our lovely God knows us well, and knows that we shall fall. But those covered in Jesus’ magnificent blood will rise again. It is this grace and forgiveness which should cause us to fear; for it is written, “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O LORD, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.” [Psalms 130:3-4]

Take heart, Christian who falters; take heart yet again, Christian who strays from the good paths of God. For you will rise again; for Chief Shepherd will guide you back if you truly belong to Him. Come again to Christ, Christian; look again to your God and Savior; look once more to that bloody cross and see Jesus and follow Him!
