Quickly Fading

Helping an older single woman, who is busy taking care of an older mother, trim, mow, mulch, etc.

The grass gets cut, the bushes get trimmed, the flowers get plucked, the weeds get pulled. These are good reminders that life is fleeting, that, as David says,

"Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah." [Psa 39:5]

And as Moses prays,

"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." [Psa 90:12]

But in contrast to our lives and glory here on earth, “the word of The Lord endureth for ever” and, “[The LORD’s] word is true from the beginning: and every one of [His] righteous judgments endureth for ever.” [1 Pe 1:25, Psa 119:160]

And, as John says,

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." [1 Jn 2:15-17]
